IT Network Senior Support Engineer – Waterford (Ireland)

JOB OBJECTIVES:


Responsible for the effective operation of the following functions:
 Installation, supporting & maintaining of Server, Network hardware, IT equipment & software.
 Suggesting & providing IT solutions to customers and providing specifications for sales department.
 Attend Pre-Sales meetings with sales account team.
 Preventative Maintenance – Taking a proactive approach, anticipating likely issues for customers and
making recommendations.
 Analysing & resolving IT issues/ faults.
 Providing training & technical support for users with varying levels of IT knowledge and competence.
 Working closely with other organisations and IT departments on behalf of customers.
 On site/ Remote/ Telephone support in a Help Desk/ Technical environment.
 Take control of technical service issues, including initiating escalation procedures and following through
on all open calls to customer satisfaction.
 Keeping the customers well informed as to the status of the project in hand.
 Document all service calls.
 Provide emergency support after normal hours if required.
 Reporting to management on all required aspects of your job.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:


 Overall, 2-5 years IT experience at IT Network Senior Support Engineer level.
 Experience of installation, migration and trouble-shooting issues with windows servers.
 Degree (or higher) in computer science, MCSE/MCP, CCNA qualification or equivalent engineer
experience.
 Strong knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems with particular focus on Active Directory and Microsoft
Exchange/Office365 portal.
 A good working knowledge of Backups (Onsite/ Offsite), Network Switches & Firewalls such as
SonicWALL/Draytek/Watchguard. Working knowledge of VPN’s / Encryption and Antivirus.
 Experience with Hyper-V/VMware system environments on Servers.
 Knowledge if storage/ cloud workings such as Office 365 and various other cloud solutions.
 Have good communication skills with customer colleagues essential.
 Have strong analytical skills.
 Have an ability to work independently and as part of a wider support team.
 Be flexible and willing to work out of office hours and perform on call duties.
